Confidence and Humility

When the centurion made his request to Jesus, he did so with confidence and in humility.  He also did it because he had great love and concern for his slave which was rare in that time.
The centurion, in his position, did not take it for granted and act as if he was better than others or as if he could do it all and he could have received much ridicule for this act and because of his stature.  But he knew who Jesus was and that he needed Jesus' help.  He had great respect for Jesus, and faith in him. It seems Jesus also respected the centurion for who he was and was ready to help him because of his willingness and love to step out in faith to help another. It is as if it drew Jesus to him.
This shows me a great lesson.  It does not matter who we are or our stature, we need to always help others and when we ask Jesus for something, do it with great confidence and humility that he will do it. It also shows me that confidence and humility draws Jesus to us even more.  The centurion and his slave was on the opposing side of Jesus, yet the centurion made the crossover for and because another human being who was in need of healing.  Am I willing to approach Jesus with confidence and in humility for those who need Jesus' help, no matter who they are?
